Announcing YOGA MATCH!
Yoga Match is a new Movement and Memory Game that works like concentration, but uses yoga flashcards instead of regular playing cards. Move over Hoyle! Downward Dog is where it’s at! Yoga Match has all of the poses from the “What I See, I Can Be” Award-winning Hard Cover Book, plus two additional poses – Butterfly and Victory.
The cards can be used the same way as the game Concentration works, except that when the kids turn over a card, they each do the pose that they turned over.
When they turn over matching cards, they both do the Victory Pose. This is a wonderful activity for “Indoor Recess Days” because it can easily keep 8 kids busy playing, getting active and moving, all in a small area of the classroom.
Teachers in classrooms can empower children by having 4 children, each choose 1 pose to build a Yoga Flow. Perfect for Daily Physical Activity (DPA) in the classroom or for Phys Ed in the Gym. Here is a great flow to take the kids through, or have the 4 children (each responsible for one card) and they are empowered to direct the class through their pose.
This flow is great because it gets the heart rate up, moves the spine, and energizes the arms, legs and hips. Yoga is all about self-empowerment, so by allowing the children to choose 4 poses they like and sequence those poses in a way that works for them, it gives them an incentive to do the practice and make it their own. Give it a try!
